Principal's message
Dear Families,
I hope this email finds you well!
We are busy at school getting ready for our Thanksgiving celebration and week off for our Fall break. Tomorrow, we will be having a special luncheon on campus. WE are grateful to have our lunch sponsored by the Latino Task Force. We will eat and sample some traditional American Thanksgiving foods as well as celebrate and share our gratitude for our many blessings. The kids have been practicing songs and poems to share with the school community. This is alway a wonderful celebration. We will be sure to share photos with you.
I am sure you have been hearing there is a Covid vaccine available for children 5-12 years old. If you are interested in having your child vaccinated we are recommending you call your child's doctor to make arrangements to get the vaccine. There are also locations you can take your child to be vaccinated. Please check the SFUSD website for these locations.
I would like to reiterate that if your child is sick, please keep them at home. If your child is at school and they present with any symptoms that may be the same as Covid-19 we will call you and ask you to pick your child up immediately. I know this is an inconvenience and I apologize in advance. We will also ask you to take your child to get a Covid -19 test and report the results to us. The district will now accept the 15 minute rapid test that you can administer to your child at home. Again,I apologize for the inconvenience AND we must ensure the health and safety of everyone on campus.
There will be no classes next week November 22 through November 26. Classes will resume.Monday,November 29th.
On a personal note,I will be out on leave for the month of December. I will be having surgery and I've been told the recovery period is about 4 weeks. Raymond Isola, retired principal of Sanchez Elementary School will be here to support the school in the interim. The school and our students will be in great hands. I expect to be back on January 3,2022!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. I feel such a privilege and honor to be principal in our wonderful community.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Vasquez
