Guidelines and Requirements for Mentors

Guidelines and Requirements

SIP mentors meet regularly with their new teachers and record their sessions in the teachers’ Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs).

Meetings
Induction, Intern, Emergency and Other Permit teachers and mentors are required to meet for 45-60 minutes weekly.

Individualized Learning Plan
The Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) is designed to capture the work in which teachers and their SIP mentors are engaged based on the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP). The ILP is intended to provide a roadmap for teachers’ Induction work and course of learning.  Mentors record most of the ILP work and guide teachers through inquiry cycles, engage them in student work analysis, support lesson planning, conduct informal observations and provide opportunities for teachers to develop reflective practices.
