Spring Break

All TK-13 SFUSD schools will be closed March 28 - April 4. We wish you a restful and refreshing Spring Break! We look forward to welcoming students back on April 7th! SFUSD offices will remain open the entire week of Spring Break. 

MLK MS Needs and Hopes Survey

MLK Middle School would like to learn how what families want from MLK MS. We want to ensure that you and your family can access the resources you need to thrive. Community Meeting Recap

On Wednesday, 3/26, MLK MS held the second Community Meeting to inform the Community about plans for next school year.  The slides can be found at our website. https://www.sfusd.edu/school/dr-martin-luther-king-jr-academic-middle-school/mlk-updates-info-mlk-families/mlk-ms-community-meeting-hybrid-0326-600pm

Main Points:

• Our budget this year contains 4 less "Full Time Equivalents" (FTEs) than last year (2 Teachers, one Counselor, and full time Nurse), and still no FTE allocation for Student Advisor, Family Liaison, and Clerk/Secretary.
• We have one additional FTE over last year for an Arts Teacher position (could be visual art, dance, music, performance, etc...) 
• We will eliminate 2 FTE positions (PBL Coordinator and Health Teacher), and our part-time Mental Health Clinician position from our budget.
• Currently it is unknown if we will have a full-time nurse. Nurses will be allocated to sites centrally. We cannot pay for a full time nurse position
• Special Education staff will be finalized later once the District knows what the final students at MLK will be. 

Parent Submitted Absences through ParentVUE

Starting in the 2024-25 school year, parents/guardians can use the ParentVUE App, to enter a FULL day absence via the ParentVUE portal on their mobile app or desktop site.

Vacaciones de primavera

Todas las escuelas del SFUSD TK-13 estarán cerradas del 28 de marzo - 4 de abril. ¡Le deseamos unas relajantes y refrescantes vacaciones de primavera! ¡Esperamos darles la bienvenida a los estudiantes el 7 de abril! Las oficinas del SFUSD permanecerán abiertas durante toda la semana de vacaciones de primavera.

Resumen de la Reunión Comunitaria

El miércoles 26 de marzo, la Escuela Secundaria MLK celebró su segunda Reunión Comunitaria para informar a la comunidad sobre los planes para el próximo año escolar. • Nuestro presupuesto de este año incluye 4 "Equivalentes de Tiempo Completo" (ETC) menos que el año pasado (2 Maestros, un Consejero y una Enfermera de tiempo completo), y aún no hay asignación de ETC para Asesor Estudiantil, Enlace Familiar y Auxiliar Administrativo/Secretaria.
• Contamos con un ETC adicional respecto al año pasado para un puesto de Profesor de Artes (podría ser de artes visuales, danza, música, actuación, etc.).
• Eliminaremos de nuestro presupuesto 2 puestos de ETC (Coordinador de Aprendizaje Basado en Proyectos y Profesor de Salud) y nuestro puesto de Médico de Salud Mental de tiempo parcial.
• Actualmente se desconoce si contaremos con una enfermera de tiempo completo. Las enfermeras se asignarán a los centros de forma centralizada. No podemos financiar un puesto de enfermera de tiempo completo.
• El personal de Educación Especial se definirá finalmente más adelante, una vez que el Distrito sepa quiénes serán los estudiantes finales en MLK.

Ausencias presentadas por los padres a través de ParentVUE

A partir del año escolar 2024-25, los padres o tutores pueden usar la aplicación ParentVUE para ingresar una ausencia de día COMPLETO a través del portal ParentVUE en su aplicación móvil o sitio de escritorio.
