More about this school

Overview
  • Hunt

Marina Middle School is a supportive, challenging and empowering learning community. Starting in 1936, the school continues to grow and flourish through each iteration.

We are building a community of students in whom we value integrity, nurture creativity, place respect for each other as a priority, foster curiosity, promote responsibility and leadership, appreciate cultural differences and feel safe to be who we are on the inside.

Our challenge and our strength is to maintain a sense of community at all times while we build capacity in our students, in each other and in our programs. We are dedicated to academic success through rigorous and thoughtful instruction, providing resources for teacher development and building on needs.

We have 850 students taking Math, English, Science, Social Studies, PE, Advisory and one of the following options: band, orchestra, art, drama, computer science coding, journalism, AVID, Mandarin, Cantonese, Arabic, or Spanish. In addition, we are partnered with the Beacon after-school program and a number of other community based organizations who provide opportunities for our students that range from hiking, camping and sailing, music and dance events to clubs that meet at lunch.

We are passionate about supporting the individual educational journeys of all our students as we look toward the future, guided by the comprehensive strategic plan of the San Francisco Unified School District’s (SFUSD) Vision 2025. We want every child to be part of the magic of learning at Marina Middle School. Marina Middle School is an incredible place!!
