SOCIAL JUSTICE LEADERSHIP: Take responsibility for equitable academic, civic and social-emotional outcomes for students who have been historically underserved by schools and society.
Vision
Develop, implement, and communicate a department/program vision focused on students, equity, and excellence with a specific emphasis on students with IEPs; students who are African-American, Latinx, Pacific Islander, or English Learners; and other underserved students.
Indicators

Personal vision: Develop and regularly share an authentic leadership story that connects a leader’s experiences to the department/program’s vision of equity.

Shared vision: Solicit input from diverse stakeholders to create a shared vision, aligned to the district vision, for equitable achievement and experience.

Communication: Support the use of stories and data to bring the department/program’s vision to life, highlight key strategies for implementing the vision for equity, and lift up and celebrate successes.

Implementation: Maintains focus on the critical priorities outlined in the department/program’s vision through implementation of a strategic action plan.

Department/program vision statements and other documents are clearly articulated, understood and embraced by team/group members.

There is visible alignment between artifacts at the department/program level (vision statement, goals, Balanced Scorecard, etc.) and SFUSD’s mission, vision, strategic plan, core values, graduate profile, and service standards.

Department/program vision articulates a focus on student academic achievement and social/emotional development and reflects high expectations for all students.

Written documents -- meeting agendas, newsletters, memos, etc. -- regularly communicate key aspects of the department/program vision.

Team members report that the department/program is able to maintain a focus on critical priorities even in the face of shifting external demands.
