Parents may be involved with our school through a number of SFUSD Councils & Committees. Learn more by visiting the SFUSD web site:

African American Parent Advisory Council (AAPAC)

The mission of the African American Parent Advisory Council (AAPAC) is to provide a forum to hear the ideas of the San Francisco Unified School District’s African American/Black families, and respond to those ideas by educating and informing parents of district resources, policies, and programs. It is our goal to empower the lives of all African American/Black children and families by providing the knowledge and skills necessary to advocate for a high quality educational experience for our children. The AAPAC works to develop resources that allow families to more actively support the academic instruction their children receive and engage with educators and administrators in the San Francisco Unified School District.

English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)

The purpose of the ELAC is to advise the principal and school staff on programs and services for English learners and the SSC on the development of the Single School Plan for Student Achievement.

School Site Council (SSC)

Each SFUSD school must have an elected School Site Council (SSC) to represent parents, students, community members, and school staff in the school governance process. The SSC has a number of important responsibilities, including:

  • Reviewing and analyzing student achievement data,
  • gathering community input,
  • helping develop the Balanced Scorecard/Single Plan for Student Achievement (BSC/SPSA) and the school site budget,
  • and monitoring the implementation of the plan and budget.

Parent Advisory Council (PAC)

The Parent Advisory Council advises the San Francisco Board of Education of parents' perspectives and provides recommendations about school district issues. The San Francisco Board of Education created the PAC as a formal way to include parent perspectives in the district’s decision-making process. PAC members actively reach out to engage families in district policy discussions and to represent parent concerns to district leaders.
