MICHELLE MA
Hi, my name is Michelle Ma, and I am proud to be a Transitional Kindergarten teacher at CIS ! I am a native Chinese speaker who was born and raised in China. I was an elementary school music teacher in China before coming to the United States. I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Child and Adolescent Development and attended San Francisco State University Credential Program with a Multiple Subject Credential, Bilingual Authorization. I am currently pursuing my Masters’ Degree.
I’ve been a Mandarin teacher for 8 years after I moved to San Francisco. Also, I had the wonderful opportunity to work in a combination classroom, K/1 grade, at West Portal Elementary School for the last 2 years. These valuable experiences have helped me to learn how to work with students and families with diverse backgrounds. I have a true passion for working with our youngest learners. Helping each child progress in all areas of their development is a challenge that I am honored to accept daily. I strive to create a community of learners that nurtures this growth in a positive and fun environment. My philosophy of teaching is learning through playing and authentic experiences, seeking where learning can be applied in the real-world.
Personally, I enjoy singing because I am a professional Chinese folk song and Opera singer. I also enjoy practicing Yoga and Pilates, reading, traveling, and doing any things that are related to art! I am excited and look forward to working with the remarkable CIS team and working together with you as partners in your child’s growth and development!
