Mission

At Balboa, our student-athletes are encouraged to make commitments, set goals, and see them through. We practice the Principles of Good Sportsmanship, which always prevail, regardless of the scoreboard's interpretation. Our mission is to enrich our students' mental, physical, and emotional well-being through competitive athletics, where lifelong lessons of sportsmanship, individual effort, teamwork, integrity, commitment, and self-discipline are emphasized.

Our athletic program consists of twenty different sports at the varsity, freshman/sophomore (FS), and junior varsity (JV) levels, and over 40 percent of our student body participate. Our student-athletes are supported by an incredible group of coaches who continually foster the rich tradition of Balboa athletics and devote their time and energy to bringing excellence to our athletic program.

The Balboa Athletic Program will:

  • Provide opportunities for students to participate in various sports throughout the school year.
  • Assist participants in the development of required physical and sport-specific skills.
  • Foster character development, social skills, game ethics, and sportsmanship.
  • Compliment lessons learned in the classroom and encourage cooperation, teamwork, discipline, and hard work.
