Mission:
The mission of the Wellness Program at each school site is to improve the health, well-being, and educational outcomes of San Francisco’s high school students through the provision of coordinated health, mental health, substance abuse, and other support services at the school site. Wellness Center Services (Located in Room 100): Link to this section
The Wellness Center offers Mental Health and Physical Health services to all Balboa students that are free and confidential.
Physical Health Services includes:
- Identification and care management of students with physical health needs
- Health education, promotion and counseling
- Complex first aid & Infectious disease control
- Health-related staff training
- Crisis response
Mental Health services include:
- Student social-emotional support groups throughout the school year
- Referrals to the DPH Teen Health Center on campus, community-based organizations referrals and involvement
- Assessments, case management, and crisis management
Other general services include:
- Student wellness breaks (up to 15 minutes)
- Snacks, water and tea available for students
- Student support locating internships, employment and resources
- School wide events to connect students, families and staff to available resources

DPH Teen Health Center offers Behavioral Health services and Medical services that include include both general health and reproductive health.
General health includes:
- Sports physicals, immunizations (depending on coverage/insurance), etc.
Reproductive Health/ Sensitive services include:
- STI testing, HIV testing, pregnancy testing, IUD insertions, Implant insertions (Nexplanon), Depo Provera shots, vaginal rings, oral contraceptive pills, and condoms.

Feel free to call or stop by the clinic to confirm if your insurance is accepted!
- 12-24 year olds with no insurance are welcome!
General health services require parental consent but reproductive health services does not require parental consent (per California Minor Consent law).
