What is a Residency?
- We believe that Transformative Teachers: Lead for Equity & Social Justice, Place Students at the Center of the Learning, Communicate Effectively in Support of Adult & Student Learning, and Take Responsibility for Change.
Residencies are a unique teacher preparation pathway that provide experiential training to residents by placing them in classrooms with skilled mentor teachers for 1 year via a gradual release model in combination with a resident cohort experience and university aligned coursework to provide a comprehensive model of teaching training.
- The San Francisco Teacher Residency aims to improve academic achievement and social-emotional development for students in the San Francisco Unified School District by recruiting, preparing, and supporting highly effective and equity-centered teachers
