Programs Foster Youth Services The San Francisco Foster Youth Services Program (FYS) strives to address the unique educational needs of foster youth by working collaboratively with youth, caregivers, schools, placing agencies, and other service providers. LGBTQ Student Services We are creating a welcoming learning environment for all students with an emphasis on LGBTQ youth and their families. RISE-SF Refugee and Immigrant Solidarity in Education (RISE-SF) works to increase access to education for Latino newcomer students and families through staff training, advocacy, community building, and the coordination of support services. Students and Families Experiencing Homelessness Students and Families Experiencing Homelessness (SAFEH) eliminates barriers that students experiencing homelessness face in terms of enrollment, attendance, and success in school. Health and Wellness Resources Setting up students for success encompasses not only academics, but also nurturing their minds, bodies and hearts. SFSD Internships Team (SIT) The SFSD Internships Team (SIT), formerly the Student Intervention Team, recruits, trains and supervises a yearly cohort of approximately 40-50 graduate-level clinical interns. Translation and Interpretation Services The Translation & Interpretation Unit (TIU) provides interpretation for meetings with families, translation of written materials, and supports SFUSD staff who provide interpretation and/or translation for your school site. Section 504 Services Section 504 enables a student with a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities to receive accommodations and/or related services to ensure equal access to education. Special Education Special education is instruction specifically designed to address the educational and developmental needs of children with disabilities from ages 3-22. Indian Education Program The Indian Education Program, Title VII supports the unique educational and culturally related academic needs of American Indian/Alaskan Native students in the San Francisco Unified School District. Migrant Education Program The Migrant Education Program tailors its services to meet the unique needs of urban migrant students, most of whom have settled out of a migratory life but still need and qualify for services for three years. The high schools are part of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF).
