Annual Events

Welcome Back

This event usually takes place the Saturday before school starts. This is a great time to reconnect with the McKinley Community.

Harvest Fest

Harvest Fest is McKinley's annual Halloween party that's super fun for the whole school. We welcome every family to join us for games, prizes, a haunted house, a costume contest and BBQ. Harvest Fest is one of the most widely attended events of the year. It usually takes place the Friday before Halloween from 5:30-8:00 pm.

Snuggle Down & Read Day

A McKinley tradition since 2004, on Snuggle Down & Read Day students and staff are encouraged to wear pajamas to school and guest readers will visit each class to share a book. This event takes place the next school day after Halloween and kicks off our November Read-a-thon.

Read-a-thon

Every day during the month of November, students will record time that they spend reading or being read to.

The Read-a-thon is also a fundraiser that provides the main source of money for new books for our main library and classroom libraries too.  McKinley kids read A LOT, and the money we raise allows our school to purchase interesting and engaging books so that our kids can read even more.

DogFest & Silent Auction

DogFest is one of McKinley’s biggest active fundraisers each year.  DogFest is an annual celebration of dogs and kids benefiting McKinley Elementary School. The festival offers something for dogs, kids, and parents of all breeds. Please learn more about DogFest here

STEAM Nights

McKinley's STEAM committee hosts 1-2 STEAM Nights per year. It is a great opportunity for families to engage with art and science in a fun and relaxed setting with creative and interactive projects.

Junior Olympics

This annual event kicks off with a spectacular opening ceremony, complete with a school cheer, dance performances, and Olympic rings. Over the course of two days, the children complete a challenging obstacle course and participate in various field events.
