Announcement Message
Late this afternoon, SFUSD learned from the Department of Public Health (DPH) that 7 students from Glen Park have reported respiratory illness. DPH is investigating and testing these students for COVID-19. There are no confirmed cases of coronavirus or COVID-19 at Glen Park.
Based on the recommendation of the Department of Public Health, SFUSD is closing Glen Park immediately while public health officials investigate.
Also, based on current guidance from health experts, Glen Park families and staff are asked to self-quarantine, which means to stay home and monitor your health for 14 days. If you become sick, seek care from your medical provider.
We know this information is cause for concern. We are working closely with health experts to inform these important decisions.
Please take care of yourselves and your loved ones by seeking medical advice and staying away from vulnerable populations, including the elderly and people with health conditions.
Our community, not just Glen Park, is in the midst of a challenging public health situation, and new information is surfacing rapidly. Ongoing developments regarding COVID-19 may be overwhelming, especially to younger children. Parents and caregivers can help children understand the situation better by discussing their concerns. Right now, health officials are reporting that 80% of COVID-19 cases are mild and its symptoms are similar to the flu.
If you have any personal health questions, please contact your medical provider. For school-related health inquiries, call the Nurse of the Day at (415) 242-2615.
We will share more information about the DPH findings in the near future.
