Library

Our School Library

The library at Frank McCoppin is run and curated by Sandra Camp. Ms. Camp was a teacher with SFUSD for 18 years before transitioning into the position of teacher librarian. She is currently working on her Master's in Library and Information Science.

Ms. Camp is at McCoppin on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and our students have library services and visit the library every week. She also runs the Lunchbox Readers program, where students in grades 1-2 and in 3-5 come to the library and read books during their lunch recess if they like.  In addition, the library is open to students before school from 8:45 - 9:15.

In addition to helping students develop a love of reading through interactive read-alouds and checking out books each week, the library will also be a Makerspace for each class during one library visit per month. These hands-on activities help students strengthen literacy skills by encouraging students to develop:

  • problem-solving skills
  • creativity
  • critical thinking
  • longer attention spans
  • improved focus
  • better communication skills
