Announcement Message
Dear Paul Revere PK-8 Community,
I am writing to share an update about Mr. Eaton’s transition out of the principalship. As you know Mr. Eaton is transitioning out of his role on Friday, January 17th, 2025. I am excited to share that Mary Richards will be stepping in as the administrative substitute principal from January 21 to April 18. Ms. Richards brings over 30 years of experience as a retired administrator, and we are thrilled to have her join us during this transitional period. Please find her introduction letter attached at the end of this communication. On January 21st, Ms. Richards will be introduced to the students and staff by taking some time to visit each classroom. Paul Revere will have a Coffee with the Administration on Friday, January 24th at 10am for any families who would like to join and meet Ms. Richards as well.
While Ms. Richards serves as the substitute principal, we will be working to identify an interim principal for the remainder of the school year. In SFUSD, interim appointments are made to address unexpected vacancies during the school year or unfilled positions from the summer when there isn’t sufficient time to organize an interview committee. These interim roles are temporary, and candidates must go through the full interview process if they choose to apply for the permanent position for the 2025-2026 school year.
In February, we will post leadership opportunities for the 2025-2026 school year. We will also share updates on specific timelines, ways to help spread the word about these openings, and opportunities to participate in the interview process. If you know of any qualified candidates who might be a strong fit for Paul Revere PK-8, please encourage them to apply through SFUSD Human Resources.
Additionally, in the next two weeks, we will provide an update regarding the plans for the Interim Assistant Principal role.
Thank you for your continued support during this time of transition.
In community,
Jennifer Steiner
Assistant Superintendent, MSK8

Dear Paul Revere PreK-8 Community,
I started my work in SFUSD almost thirty years ago with the clear goal of transforming school cultures through collective, strategic, and equitable reform to intentionally impact students’ lives, schools’ staff, and the local community in positive and meaningful ways. I had the privilege of practicing and honing my skills while in service as an Elementary and Middle school Teacher, a K8 Assistant Principal and Principal, and as a central office Executive Director with district wide responsibilities in the offices of PreK-12 LEAD, Human Resources and Students, Families and Community Support (SFCSD).
My continued devotion to education was instilled in me throughout my childhood, as one of ten children, raised in New York, during the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s, and under the perpetual guidance and unambiguous expectations of working-class parents whose families came to this country in the early 1900’s in hopes of a promising future only to face, and fortunately overcome, the “original” pandemic of 1918; the devastating poverty of the Depression; and the hardships of World War II. That sense of resilience and perseverance supported our daily dinner agendas which would most likely end with someone in tears and another claiming victory but with everyone leaving the table with more knowledge than when they sat down. Thinking back, I realized those moments provided my parents with a deeper understanding of the character, potential, interests, and abilities of their children which they in turn would use to foster and guide each of us about our purpose and role in service to society and our community.
I look forward to being able to continue learning, supporting, and growing with the Paul Revere PreK-8 School Students, Staff, Families and Community Partners. Here WE Grow!!
Yours Truly,
Mary Richards
Retired Administrator Substitute
