Hello Flynn Families,
Believe it or not, we are in the final two days (June 1st & 2nd) of the school year! This year has presented an unprecedented number of challenges, obstacles, and changes. Throughout that journey, however, our Flynn students, teachers, staff, and families have remained connected in service to our Flynn community.
Below we have some information related to finishing out this school year and preparing for some changes for next school year. Currently, SFUSD is planning to provide 5 full days of in-person learning to start the school year on August 16th, 2021. SFUSD will send out (via email and posted on the sfusd.edu website) the last issue of the weekly digest for the 2020-21 school year on June 2. SFUSD will send out and post two summer digests on the last Wednesday of June (June 30) and July (July 28).

Change of start/end times for School Year 2021-22
As you may be aware, SFUSD announced last week that start and end times across the school district are changing this coming School Year 2021-22 (starting August 16th, 2021). Flynn’s adjusted school start and end times for all grades (TK-5) will be the following:
- Start Time (Monday-Friday): 7:50am
- Dismissal Time (Mon, Tues, Thur, Fri): 2:05pm
- Early Release Dismissal Time (Wed): 12:50pm
We understand that this abrupt change may impact your family schedules and childcare plans. Since this information has just recently been shared with us as a school staff, we will be working to gather and share information related to school bus transportation and after-school programming in preparation for next school year.
(Students NOT attending an SFUSD school next year) How to return SFUSD Chromebooks/hotspots:
Only those students who are attending a school outside of SFUSD need to return technology (e.g. Chromebook, hotspot) at one of the following options listed below. Students returning to Flynn or any SFUSD school next year should hang on to their borrowed devices for use next school year.
Attend one of the central return options on Wednesday, June 2nd between 3:00-5:00 PM at:
- Martin Luther King, Jr. MS (350 Girard St)
- Lawton Alternative K-8 (1570 31st Ave)
- Gordon J. Lau ES (950 Clay St)
- Cesar Chavez ES (825 Shotwell St)
- Deposit items in the collection dropbox inside the lobby of 555 Franklin St during business hours (Mon-Fri, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM) until June 4th.
