Sebastian Raphael

Hello everyone! My name is Sebastian Raphael, I'm the new art teacher at your school, I'm honored to work and learn with my colleagues and students. I am an accomplished artist with 25 years of experience in fine arts, writing, and fashion design. From a very early age, I developed a fascination with color and words, which led me to pursue a career in fine arts. My passion further evolved during my decade as an haute couture fashion designer in Dubai. My work, exhibited around the world, is a reflection of my diverse global experiences, fusing texture, shape, and color to explore and discuss relationships and resilience.

I hold a BA in political science from the University of Jordan, a BA in fashion design from Argosy University, and an MFA in textile design from the Academy of Art University. Throughout my education, I explored the intersectionality of arts, communities, and history. During my graduate studies, I discovered a deep passion for education, particularly in supporting future generations.

As an art teacher, I strive to create spaces and opportunities for children to unlock their creative capacity, fostering their development, healing, and self-agency. When I was nine years old, a teacher took the time to see my potential, investing in my self-confidence and artistry. That experience profoundly shaped my journey, setting me on a positive trajectory. It serves as my inspiration and framework for how I approach teaching—nurturing students as they experiment with who they are and how they can contribute to society.
