Dear Denman Middle School Families,
Welcome back to the 2023-2024 school year! We hope you had a restful and restorative summer, and that your kiddos are excited to be back at school! We are so delighted to be returning to Denman this year as your administrative team, and can’t wait to see all of our students walk back through our doors. Our staff are ready to welcome new and familiar faces, and our goal for the year is that the answer to “Do you belong at Denman?” and “Are you learning at Denman?” is YES for every student!
We will continue our work to increase student Sense of Belonging, Literacy, and Deeper Learning at Denman, with special focus on our African American and English Learner students, and will move into year two of our Middle School Initiate Wonder schedule. Initiate Wonder allows for all students to have access to electives and enrichment, utilizes longer “block” classes to allow more time for projects and student collaboration, and aligns our Wednesday early release for collaboration both among Denman staff and with our district colleagues.
Please join me in welcoming many wonderful new staff to our Denman community as well! We are especially excited to bring a new class to Denman, Mastering Cultural Identity, specifically for our African American students, and welcome Mr. D (Darrion Willis) to the team.

Denman teachers have returned this week to prepare for students’ return, and we want to give a huge shout out to our Parent Teacher Student Association who have refreshed our teacher work room, supported with sorting and cleaning supplies, and are helping to create a fun and welcoming atmosphere for our staff! The first day of school is Wednesday, August 16, 2023. We know that returning to school is an exciting time for students, and can also bring up worries and anxiety. Estimadas familias de la escuela Secundaria Denman,
¡Bienvenido de nuevo al año escolar 2023-2024! ¡Esperamos que haya descansado y haya tenido un verano reparador, y que sus hijos estén emocionados de volver a la escuela! Estamos encantados de regresar a Denman este año como su equipo administrativo, y estamos ansiosos por ver a todos nuestros estudiantes cruzar nuestras puertas. Nuestro personal está listo para recibir y dar la bienvenida a caras nuevas y conocidas, y nuestra meta para el año es que la respuesta a "¿Perteneces a Denman?" y "¿Estás aprendiendo en Denman?" es SÍ para todos los estudiantes!
