Founded in 1981, 10,000 Degrees is a leading college success nonprofit organization in California that helps low-income and first-generation students get to and through college.
We support high school students at Ida B Wells High School in the following areas:
- Financial aid applications (FAFSA & CA DREAM ACT)
- 4 year college applications (UC/CSU/PRIVATE)
- Community college applications
- Community college class registration
- Student and family college workshops
- 10,000 Degrees Community College Success Scholarship application
What makes 10,000 Degrees unique?
- NO GPA requirement.
- We support students and families from low income backgrounds TO AND THROUGH college.
- We serve all students regardless of their documentation status.
- Our programs are led by 10,000 Degrees Fellows who are recent college graduates, many are alums of 10,000 Degrees, who serve as near-peer mentors and lead our innovative college success model.
- 10,000 Degrees is one of the few college support organizations that has a proven pathway for students who begin at a community college and then transfer to graduate from a four-year college.
What does our work look like at INSERT HIGH SCHOOL?
October - December
Financial aid & 4 year college application support for ALL seniors.
January - May
Community college support for high school seniors & 10,000 Degrees Community College Success Scholarship launch.
June
High school seniors are selected for the 10,000 Degrees Community College Success Scholarship.
July
Summer transition support for new 10,000 Degrees Community College Success students & student onboarding meetings.
August
Support for 10,000 Degrees Community College Success students begins!
