Technology Policies
Cell Phone Policy
Cell phones, smart watches, and bluetooth headphones must remain off and away from 9:20 AM until the dismissal bell. There is no exception to this rule. “Off” means powered down. “Away” means out of sight in a backpack or bag. Phones must not be visible and must be off at school.
-
From the first bell at 9:20 until the dismissal bell at 4:00 (or 2:15 on early release days).
-
Also during 0 period PE, in the LC before school, and during After School Programming
-
This includes lunch, all classes, and all passing periods.
Chromebook Replacement Policy
1st Chromebook
If a student's first Chromebook is lost or damaged and cannot be repaired at Hoover, the student will receive a replacement device after their parent/guardian has been contacted by the school. They will receive this replacement regardless of fault.
2nd Chromebook
If the second Chromebook is lost or damaged and cannot be repaired at Hoover, the student will not receive another replacement for the entirety of the school year, regardless of whose fault it is that the device is not working.
The student will use loaner devices in their classes and will still not be permitted to use a personal device on campus for school work. They are still expected to complete any work assigned outside of school. If a parent/guardian is concerned about their child’s ability to complete work outside of school, they must contact the school to see if other arrangements can be made.
Technology help can be requested by either the student or parent by using this form.
