Hoover Middle School is excited to announce that we are partnering up with Beacon, and will be offering a FREE In-person AND Virtual three-day Step-Up program designed for our incoming 6th grade families this summer. The purpose of this program is to assist the new families with a smooth transition from elementary to middle school. Activities include school tours, get-to-know-you time, family social and transitioning workshops.

Not only will parents be able to meet other future 6th grade families, but you will also get a chance to visit the school and help you settle down before the first day of school. Parents must adhere to the safety guidelines provided by the San Francisco Department of Public Health, practice social distance and keep your masks/face coverings on at all times.

Please submit your application by FRIDAY, June 4 if you are interested. Spots fill up fast, applying as soon as possible is encouraged.

Please note:

  • Childcare service is NOT AVAILABLE. This program is open for Parents ONLY due to limited spaces.
  • ALL In-person and Virtual activities are available in English, Spanish and Cantonese.
  • Breakfast/Meals included
  • Please arrive on time and wear your masks/face coverings
  • Hand Sanitizer available
  • Free Street parking available


Program Schedule (We offer Morning and Afternoon In-person Sessions）:

  • Tuesday, June 22: In-person Activities (Cantonese/Spanish)
  • Wednesday, June 23 @ 5PM: Virtual Family Workshop - Middle School Transitioning
  • Thursday, June 24: In-person Activities (Spanish/Cantonese)


You will ONLY need to attend ONE In-person session. Family Workshops are open to ALL Hoover families, no sign-up is needed.
