Resource Alignment Initiative goal: Prioritize resourcing programs at schools that have demonstrated success toward positive student outcomes

For this focus area of the Resource Alignment Initiative, the District is exploring how to best resource programs at schools that have demonstrated success toward positive student outcomes.

Multiple elements of Districtwide programming have been in development as the District considers the future of the school site portfolio. For example, policy changes to the Universal Transitional Kindergarten Districtwide program have resulted from this effort and continued planning around the Transitional Kindergarten expansion. In addition, the district has engaged in a three-year design process to review the variety of language pathways in elementary school and clarify the definition of each program. The next step is to implement the new literacy curriculum in the Spanish immersion and biliteracy classrooms for the 24-25 school year to increase coherence across the system.

• April 22, 2024, DAC discussed Special Education and Language Pathways and how they can improve instruction and increase sustainability, respectively.
• February 26, 2024, DAC discussed the vision and key shifts for Middle School portfolio and developed shared takeaways about the key information from the Middle School Fact Base.
• January 22, 2024, DAC discussed the current high school portfolio and supporting resources, so they can understand and articulate differences between what families want and the current portfolio of high schools. Lastly, develop questions to guide DAC discussion on SFUSD portfolio of schools.
• February 5, 2024, DAC discussed context with focus on equity and community engagement to outline the vision and investments for the High School Portfolio and other takeaways about the constraint on the vision.
• High School Task Force will gather input from the community on SFUSD's high schools and provide recommendations on how to improve high school policies, practices and programs for better student outcomes.
• Initiate Wonder is the middle school redesign that will provide collaboration and development opportunities for teachers to reimagine and redesign teaching and learning across all subject areas so that students will accelerate and exercise choice in a rigorous, relevant, and interdisciplinary education that prepares them for high school, college, and career in the 21st century.
• Universal Transitional Kindergarten bridges the pre-kindergarten and kindergarten years. It is the first year of a two-year kindergarten program that has been implemented in California for children who are not old enough yet for kindergarten, but want to build their social, developmental and academic skills.
