On June 25, 2024, Superintendent Wayne presented the final school consolidation criteria to the Board of Education. You can access the translated slides and recording of that meeting. The final criteria are informed by community feedback, the District Advisory Committee’s recommendations for consolidation criteria (English, Spanish, Chinese), and Superintendent Wayne’s response to the DAC’s recommendations. |
The process for creating a new portfolio of schools includes multiple phases of community engagement to ensure the community’s voices are heard. We implemented the first phase from March to May 2024. It focused on gathering input on which criteria should be used to determine which schools should be considered for closure, merger, and co-location.
You can review documents from this process:
- Community feedback from Phase 1 Virtual Town Halls, In-Person Community Sessions, and two community-wide surveys
- The District Advisory Committee’s recommendations for consolidation criteria (English, Spanish, Chinese)
- Superintendent Wayne’s response to the DAC’s recommendations

Over the summer, District leaders will use community input to create scenarios for a new portfolio of schools, which will be presented to the public in September. Stay up to date on the latest developments on our Weekly Updates page.
Upcoming community engagement will focus on deep engagement with school communities that will be directly affected by closures, mergers, and co-locations to ensure a transition that supports the unique needs of each school community.
