Open Enrollment for SY 2024-25

What is Open Enrollment?

What is Open Enrollment?

Open Enrollment is a period in which any student can enroll for the first time, or change their enrolled school and pathway. Any family needing a school for 2024-2025 can participate in Open Enrollment. This includes families who have never applied to SFUSD before and families who have applied in the Main Round or Round 2 but still seek a different school assignment. The Open Enrollment period started on July 15 and goes through August 30, 2024.

How does Open Enrollment work?

Open Enrollment works on a first-come, first-served basis for immediate assignment to a school with open seats and no Wait Pool requests. Families who wish to participate in Open Enrollment can contact the Enrollment Center directly.

  • Phone: 415-241-6085

  • Email enrollinschool@sfusd.edu

  • Visit an office in-person: 555 Franklin St (94102) or 1520 Oakdale Ave (94124; Tue & Thu only)

During the first day of Open Enrollment, there are typically many families who wish to get into schools and pathways that have openings. As a way to ensure that families are served in an orderly fashion during the first few hours of Open Enrollment, every family that wishes to participate in Open Enrollment will need to complete a Google Form to join the queue. The Google Form was open from 8:00 - 11:30 AM on July 15. After the first few hours, we closed the Google Form and returned to normal counseling in-person, over the phone, and over email.

If you choose to enroll your child in a school using the Open Enrollment process, you overwrite any previous school assignment for the 2024-25 school year. Enrolling in a school for the first time, or changing your student’s enrollment, during Open Enrollment will not impact pending Wait Pool applications.
