Parent Faculty Club (PFC)

Welcome to the Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy (HMCRA) Parent Faculty Club!

HMCRA is a vibrant school in which administration, teachers, families, and the greater community work together to establish an inspiring and safe environment where students can learn, explore, and grow. One of the main ways families and the school are connected is through our Parent Faculty Club, or PFC. The Parent Faculty Club is a free organization tasked with building our community and raising funds to fill the budget shortfall every public school unfortunately faces. The PFC builds our community through events including the Mosaic Mixer, Read-a-thon, Parents’ Night Out, and Drag Show, and supporting classroom teachers by coordinating room parents, and much more. The PFC also oversees corporate donations, community fundraisers—such as Tacolicious nights and Good Eggs kick-backs—and the Annual Giving Campaign, our largest fundraiser. All this money is funneled right back into the school’s enrichment programs including art and music, fresh fruit for all students daily, Education Outside, field trips, Edible Social Studies and our Reading Intervention Teacher along with so much more. We invite you to join the PFC and share your ideas and inspirations, ask questions or just learn more about what makes HMCRA tick! The PFC meets monthly but there are always opportunities to get involved outside of the meetings. Maybe you have a talent for web design or gardening; maybe you could lend your photography skills to a school project; maybe you love baking cookies for our teachers…there are so many ways to participate in building our community and supporting our kids. Students have a real sense of pride knowing that this community supports them daily.

The PFC meets the second Wednesday of every month (currently online only). Check the HMCRA Calendar for current information. Additional opportunities to get involved will be announced in our weekly Newsletter.

We are fortunate to have a diverse community here at Harvey Milk. With so many different neighborhoods, backgrounds and cultures represented in our student body, we as parents have so much to offer our school. Please join us to share your talents and viewpoint.
