Spoken Arts

Spoken Arts

Step up to the mic, challenge yourself and grow as an artist! Spoken Arts will push you to explore new forms of expression, develop your skills, and find your voice. Through poetry, rap, storytelling, singing, and more, you'll discover the power of words to move and inspire. "The role of the artist is to reflect the times." - Nina Simone. Are you ready to step up?

Students in Spoken Arts explore their creative voice(s) through poetry, dramatic and comedic performance, improvisation, rap, and public speaking. The core of this four-year program is writing and performance, hand-in-hand. Spoken Artists have a passion for writing and an interest in honing their voice to perform their work. Over the course of the program, students meet a wide ranging group of artists in residence who support them in their journey to finding their authentic written and performance styles.
