Overview
  • We are BVHM, the Mission District's K-8 dual-language Spanish Immersion Community School, and as such we strive to develop strong bilingual and multicultural agents of change that can thrive academically, socially and artistically. Through academically rigorous instruction, technology, and the arts, our educators develop students’ collaborative and critical thinking skills, preparing them for a dynamic world. Inspired by the core values of our community, and supported by an equity-focused and culturally relevant social-emotional curriculum, our children rise to our high expectations and bloom into healthy, competent, and confident learners. Finally, our visionary social justice lens allows students and their families to analyze our current social reality, empowering them to transform our community for the betterment of all.

We are excited to share that BVHM is getting a full modernization of its buildings, with construction beginning in summer 2025. To facilitate this project, the District must move students and staff off-campus for the duration of the construction. Beginning in August 2025, all of BVHM will be co-located at June Jordan School for Equity at the former Luther Burbank MS campus at 325 La Grande Avenue. This co-location will begin for the 2025-26 school year, and is scheduled to continue for the duration of the BVHM’s construction, until summer 2028.

June Jordan School for Equity is a small high school that occupies one part of the campus. BVHM will occupy the other part of the campus, with space for all classrooms, two courtyards for recess and PE, and access to the auditorium, library, gym, and cafeteria. The two schools will operate separately. Starting in the 2028-29 school year, BVHM will move back to its current location on 23rd street, with a fully modernized campus.
