Announcement Message
We share this letter about Attendance as an option to send home with students this week of conferences. Due to prioritizing communications about the travel disruptions/delays with the APEC conference citywide, the district did not send this message out centrally. However, we encourage sites to send out via School Messenger at the site level and/or print to send home with students.
You’ll find a link to the letter with translations in this Google Folder. The English version is also pasted below.
SFUSD is proud to celebrate our students showing up to school! We’ve seen much improvement in chronic absenteeism this year, and we feel it in our classrooms. Learning truly is better when we are all together!
Conference Week
Conferences with teachers are being held this week of November 13th-17th. This is a great opportunity to meet with your child’s teachers and learn about their academic and social-emotional progress and development. Click here to learn more about how to make the most at your child’s conference.
School Calendar and Holidays
November and December are full of celebrations, and lots of learning and time in community as well. To ensure that we keep up our momentum of showing up for ourselves and each other each day at school, please review the upcoming months in the school calendar below, and take note of the dates school will be in recess.
Just missing 2 days a month can set a student on track to be chronically absent. If there is any reason your child will miss school in the coming months, please inform school staff as soon as possible. This gives teachers and principals time to determine if Independent Study is an option for your child, or explore other solutions to missing school.
Art Poster Contest Winners
Finally, it is with much excitement that we announce the winners of our Attendance Awareness Art Contest! Over 300 SFUSD students participated and created art highlighting why we all belong in SFUSD schools. See our Attendance Awareness Website to see the work of our artist, and for additional resources about attendance at www.sfusd.edu/Attendance.
