Hola Parents and Guardians,
Thank you for your interest in joining the Beacon Spanish Morning Program. This program is offered to AP Giannini students by the Beacon in a contract partnership with iDesli. The Beacon Director manages permits, payments, and registration and iDesli manages curriculum, materials, and instruction. We look forward to working with your family and bringing your student quality language instruction.
Morning Spanish classes are offered at three levels of proficiency and meet 5 days a week from 8:15am to 9:15am. The first day of instruction is Monday, August 19, 2024 and the last day of instruction is Friday, May 30, 2025. Classes will meet on all school days. There will be no class during parent-teacher conference weeks.
Schedule and Levels Link to this section
Level I, II, and III Placement
All new students with no knowledge of or very basic knowledge of Spanish will be placed in Level I. Students who have successfully completed Level I the previous year, or have received a moderate level of Spanish instruction elsewhere will be placed in Level II. Students who have successfully completed Level II the previous year or have extensive Spanish instruction elsewhere will be placed in Level III. You will be asked to recommend which level your student will be best suited for. If they have previous knowledge of Spanish, your student will be asked to complete an online assessment to determine which level they will be placed in. In all cases, the first week of instruction will be used to confirm their level placement and your students' level could change based on instructor assessment.
Level IV
If there is enough interest, we may also add a Level IV class. This will be based on enrollment in August.
Complimentary Spanish Study Hall
There will be a complimentary online Spanish study hall offered every Wednesday from 4pm to 5pm by one of the iDesli instructors. Study hall will be available to all students registered in any level for homework support, asking questions, and practicing language skills with classmates.
Financial Aid Link to this section
Understanding that the full tuition may be a hardship for some families, the Beacon is working to offer some financial assistance to those that qualify. Please COMPLETELY fill out the financial aid portion of the application and submit proof of Free and Reduced Lunch to qualify. Full scholarships will not be awarded but partial support is available. Final decisions on the amount for those that request support will be shared with families no later than Friday August 4th. If your family does not qualify for financial support we encourage you to utilize the installment payment plan to spread out your tuition payments.
At least one partial payment MUST be made before the first day of class to ensure your enrollment and spot!!
For questions, please contact Beacon Director, Beth Guy at bguy@bacr.org
