Program Overview

Our Program

EXPERT GUIDANCE TO HELP YOU MASTER ESSENTIAL SKILLS

Using an innovative blend of job-embedded coaching and online learning, SFUSD Pathway to Teaching gives you a full-time classroom position and a plan to earn your credential within a year. Our support during the intensive training period consists of three elements:

Practice

Master essential teaching skills while leading your own classroom full-time.

Coaching

Learn how to succeed in SFUSD with guidance from an expert coach.

Community

Join a cohort of inspiring educators on a journey to a new career in the classroom.

During the school year, Pathway Teachers receive support through online coursework, in-person professional learning sessions, and instructional coaching. You’ll take online classes that correspond with your subject area, attend sessions facilitated by program and district staff, and have a coach who provides one-on-one feedback. You and your coach debrief observation feedback, evaluate data, and discuss coursework and in-person sessions. Harnessing the power of community and technology, you will learn to set the high bar for academic excellence that your students deserve.
