Overview
-
O’Connell offers an innovative instructional model to prepare all students for college and the professional world. Students participate in rigorous project-based learning, build enduring relationships, and develop 21st century skills. At O'Connell, we believe every student should be able to make choices about his or her future, and define (rather than wait for) opportunities. Our students are prepared to enter post-secondary options of four-year universities, community colleges, or livable wage careers.
11th and 12th graders select a career-themed lab: Entrepreneurship & Culinary Arts (ECA), Health & Behavioral Sciences (HBS), or Construction & Environmental Technology (CE-Tech). Teams of teachers integrate college-preparatory academics with career-themed coursework, and facilitate advanced research and internships at top companies within each career area. AP courses are offered.
Everyone feels welcome within the O’Connell community. We encourage our students and families to hold us accountable for providing the best educational opportunities possible in San Francisco. Students are excited to come to school and participate in classes because they see the link between school and their futures. Students and teachers feel safe to take risks in their learning and try new things.
O'Connell offers a full range of Community School services to support students and families. We have a dedicated college and career team available to support students daily. Our Wellness Center includes a full-time nurse and therapist team. After school programming is offered until 6:00 pm daily, including tutoring and homework help, student-led clubs, athletics, enrichment courses and more! Call 415-695-5370 ext. 1004 for a school tour.
