PreKindergarten & Out-of-School Time Programs
PreKindergarten Program
The PreKindergarten (PreK) Program serves children ages 2 years and 9 months to 5 years old. We offer both full-time and school-day options, and both subsidized and tuition-based enrollment slots. Our PreK program can be found throughout San Francisco either in Early Education Schools, which solely specialize in offering PreK and TK, or in Elementary Schools that offer PreK up to 8th grade. For more information, please visit SFUSD PreKindergarten.
Out-of-School Time Program
The Out-of-School-Time (OST) Program serves children in grades TK-5, and offers educational instruction before school, after school, during Spring and Summer Break, and other times when schools are not in session. SFUSD offers limited bussing from some of our elementary schools to sites that operate OST. For more information, please visit SFUSD Out-of-School Time Program.
Early Education Department Family Handbook
The Early Education Department Family Handbook is a resource of policies, rules and procedures for our families with students enrolled in our Early Education Schools and programs. Our handbook is the foundation for our parent-school communication and alignment. Families will be provided with a copy of our handbook at the time of enrollment. The copy can be provided as a digital copy or a printed copy based on requests and availability. Please visit the Early Education Department Library of Handbooks and Booklets web page for digital copies of our available materials in several languages and other helpful booklets for our students and families.
Please note there is a separate Handbook specific to grades TK-12. For more information visit the SFUSD Student & Family Handbook page.
