School Site Council

Each SFUSD school must have an elected School Site Council (SSC) to represent parents, students, community members, and school staff in the school governance process. The SSC has a number of important responsibilities, including:

  • Reviewing and analyzing student achievement data

  • Gathering community input

  • Helping develop the Balanced Scorecard/Single Plan for Student Achievement (BSC/SPSA) and the school site budget

  • Monitoring the implementation of the plan and budget

English Language Advisory Council

Each SFUSD school must have an elected English Language Advisory Council (ELAC) to represent parents, students, community members, and school staff in the school governance process. The ELAC has a number of important responsibilities, including advising and assisting the school principal, staff and ELAC on:

  • The school's program for English learners

  • The development of the Single School Plan for Student Achievement (BSC)

  • The school's needs assessment

  • The school's annual language census (R-30 LC Report)

  • Efforts to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance
