Vanessa Louise Carter's commitment to ecological justice has led her to collaborate with ecoliteracy educators, inspiring activists, whole systems thinkers and change-makers around the world dedicated to building the capacity of young people to navigate climate disruption with a scientifically literate and collaborative design process. Through demonstration, education, professional development and policy change, she supports school communities to integrate resilient systems that strengthen people's relationship to place via the living learnscape. She is a seasoned urban public high school teacher, a skilled facilitator, an ecoliteracy curriculum designer and a natural connector of people and ideas co-creating the bridges necessary for a just transition. Vanessa co-founded the Green Academy at Abraham Lincoln High School here in SFUSD in 2010.
As SFUSD’s Ecoliteracy Content Specialist, she supports the City as Classroom initiative to equitably connect program providers around the Bay Area that build the scientific and ecological literacy of our district’s students.

Theresa understands the importance of hands-on learning for our students. She spent two decades working directly with young children before going off to the private sector. Now that she’s back, she’s melding her love for hands-on learning with her administrative skills to help facilitate science education in elementary schools.
