How to Update Your Apple Computer

Please follow these steps in order to run all available Apple operating system updates:

Important: Please make sure to attach the AC adapter (charging cable) before updating.

Please save any data in apps or the browser and close all open programs before running system updates. 

Look to the upper left corner of your Apple laptop screen to locate the white Apple icon.

Click this icon and a menu will drop down, please select 'System Settings'.

Select 'General' then Select ‘Software Update’. Click the Update Now button.

You may need to repeat this process a few times until all updates are installed by clicking 'Check For Update".

Just a heads-up: your computer might reboot a couple of times. These big updates can take a bit, so it’s usually best to run them when you don’t need your machine—like over lunch or the weekend.
