Welcome to the 2024-25 school year! Starting Monday, Aug. 19, 2024, SFUSD high school students can apply for work permits at their school site. More information can be found on our website.

Please note that the SFUSD Transcripts, Records & Work Permits Office will only issue work permits when schools are closed for summer break, holidays, or other breaks, and for Middle School students eligible for a work permit.

Work Permit eligibility:

To obtain a work permit, the student must be a current SFUSD student (13 years or older) and meet the following requirements per Board Policy 5113.2, Administrative Regulation 5113.2.

  • Students must demonstrate satisfactory school attendance.
  • Maintain a 2.0 grade point average (GPA) during the academic year.

If a student does not meet the GPA or attendance requirements, the school administrator can determine if they are eligible for an exemption.

For questions please contact the SFUSD Transcripts, Students Records & Work Permits Office at Transcripts@sfusd.edu.
