Announcement Message

Last school year, we expanded our meal pin usage to high schools. Please note that in the coming 24-25 SY, meal pin usage will be launched at Refresh Middle Schools. If your student(s) are at a K-8 or at Francisco or Visitacion Valley Middle Schools, please disregard this message.

The purpose of meal pin implementation is to ensure SNS is able to adhere to meal compliance and meal counting to reliably be reimbursed for complete student meals. This system requests students to check out with a meal PIN after selecting their meal. This allows us to continue serving free meals for students from multiple lines on campus, which helps keep the flow during meal service. Please share this information with any staff supporting meal service.

  • To allow SNS Staff to support across the district, meal pin usage launch will be split up. Some sites will begin Pin number usage on Week 2 and some will launch on Week 3. You will receive an email detailing which week your school will start.
  • Meal PINs are considered confidential student information, so they should not be shared with peers or teachers.

View the Implementation Schedule Below

Meal Pins Needed Starting Week of August 27 at:

Willie Brown, Denman, AP Giannini, Aptos, and Roosevelt

Meal Pins Needed Starting Week of September 3 at:

MLK, Lick, Everett, Hoover, Marina, Presidio

How will Students know their meal PIN?

  • Students with an email on file will receive an email before school starts from “SFUSD Student Nutrition Services” containing their individual Meal PIN and instructions on how to access their meal PIN digitally.
    • Meal PINs are accessible in the StudentVue app.
  • View here various ways a School Staff member can help a Student access their meal PIN.
    • Meal PINs are listed in Synergy.
    • As a last cause, Dining Staff can look up a student on their computer by name or Student ID. However, if this is done during meal service, it significantly delays the line.

Happy Back to School! Please reach out at SchoolLunch@sfusd.edu with any questions.
