Announcement Message

Current local law allows certain non-citizens to register and vote in San Francisco’s Board of Education (School Board) elections. Non-Citizen Voter (NCV) Registrations expire after each local School Board election. 

If you registered for previous School Board elections, you must complete a new NCV Registration Form for the November 5, 2024 San Francisco School Board Election. 

Non-Citizen voters may only register using the NCV Registration Form. Non-Citizens cannot use the state voter registration form or register at the DMV.
 

Eligibility requirements for non-citizen voting in the Nov. 5, 2024 San Francisco School Board Election include:
 

  • At least 18 years old on November 5, 2024
  • Parent, guardian, or caregiver of a child who will be under 19 on November 5, 2024
  • You and your child are living in San Francisco
  • You are not in state or federal prison for conviction of a felony
  • Not currently found mentally incompetent to vote by a court
