Notice of Grade Change Option for High School Students Enrolled In 2020-2021
Option to Change Letter Grade to Pass/No Pass: Parents/guardians/education rights holders of high school students who were enrolled in a high school course during the 2020-2021 school year may apply to have a letter grade(s) earned for that course during the 2020-2021 school year changed to a Pass or No Pass grade. Students who are 18 or older may apply on their own behalf.
The original application deadline was August 14, 2021.
On September 23, 2021, Governor Newsom signed legislation to allow districts to extend the original deadline for a grade change.
How to Request a Grade Change: Changes to Pass/No Pass you can complete this form or print and complete the Grade Change Application (English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Arabic, Samoan, Tagalog) and mail to the SFUSD Transcript Office at 20 Cook St. San Francisco, CA 94118 by October 22, 2021.
If you already submitted a request, SFUSD will process your request.
All new requests are due by October 22, 2021.
No impact on GPA/Financial Aid: There is no limit to the number or type of courses eligible for the grade change, and the change shall not negatively affect the student’s grade point average. The grade change also shall not result in the forfeiture of the pupil’s eligibility or entitlement to state or institutional student financial aid.
Postsecondary Impact: The following postsecondary educational institutions will accept, for admission purposes, a transcript with a Pass or No Pass grade instead of a letter grade: List of Postsecondary Institutions. Please note that some postsecondary educational institutions, including those in other states, may not accept a Pass or No Pass grade instead of a letter grade for admission purposes.
Grade change applications must be submitted via online form or by mail to the SFUSD Transcript Office at 20 Cook St. San Francisco, CA 94118 by October 22, 2021. No grade change applications will be accepted after that date.
Applicants will receive notice of the grade change on the student’s transcript within 15 days of receipt of the application. Find transcript information.
