Amy Buster Baer
Amy Buster Baer is a veteran public educator with a wide range of professional experiences spanning more than 25 years. She has nearly a decade of hands-on experience developing and implementing systems and processes in all areas of school district human resources. Most recently, Amy served as the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for San Rafael City Schools where she oversaw labor relations and the recruitment, hiring, evaluation, and retention of high-quality and diverse educators and administrators. Previously, she spent many years as a district-level administrator in special education and student services managing the delivery of special education, health, wellness programs and discipline. She began her career in education as a school psychologist and special day class teacher.
Throughout her tenure, Amy has excelled at relationship building and strategic thinking, which have led to her and her teams’ successes in navigating challenges and opportunities to benefit staff, students and families. She is passionate about public education and ensuring educators are empowered, inspired and equipped to perform at their highest levels so they in turn can help all students achieve their full potential and contribute to the community and the world.
Amy holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and an M.A. in Education/School Psychology from Fresno Pacific University. She has also served as an adjunct faculty member at San Francisco State University teaching Human Resource Administration in Education for graduate students seeking an administrative services credential.
Amy lives in San Rafael with her husband and two children.
