Announcement Details
Announcement Message
In the Fall of 2024, beginning on August 20th, all K-12 school facilities will be inspected by an independent consultant in compliance with the Williams Settlement Legislation and SARC Reporting. The inspectors will be visiting all rooms to determine whether the facility is in good repair. This year, facility inspections will be conducted by California School Inspections.
The Facilities Inspectors have been vaccinated, boosted, and will be COVID tested before coming to our District. They have completed 1000s of school inspections and understand the concerns school employees might have and will work to reduce distractions as much as possible. To do so, the inspectors will be given keys and we ask that staff to allow the inspectors to work independently. If there are questions or concerns during the inspection that are outside the scope of the inspection itself, please direct staff to share their questions and concerns with the site Principal who can refer any unanswered or unaddressed questions and concerns to the Office of Equity (equity@sfusd.edu) or the Facilities Department (Karen Sullivan at sullivank3@sfusd.edu). Inspections may also occur on the weekends, with the Facilities Department coordinating site access.
In the following chart, please take a moment to identify whether your school was selected by the California Department of Education as a Williams Monitoring school. Then, read the relevant sections below for your school. We thank all school staff for your help in making these inspections run as smoothly as possible.

All Schools - Posting Requirements
The Office of Equity has posted an announcement and will send directly to Principals via email a memo on "Williams Complaint Procedure/Classroom Notices Posting Requirements.” This memo includes instructions for required Classroom Notices that are applicable to all schools.
Williams Monitoring Schools
Williams Monitoring schools are required to have their inspections within the first four weeks of school. 25% of inspections are required to be unannounced. Schools selected for an announced visit will be notified via an email to their Principal on Friday before the week of inspection.
Williams Monitoring schools will additionally have a separate inspection visit for instructional materials. The Office of Equity provides information and resources for Williams Monitoring schools to prepare for the inspections. If you have questions about the Williams Monitoring inspections, please email the Office of Equity (equity@sfusd.edu).
Non- Williams Monitoring Schools
Schools not on the Williams Monitoring list will have an inspection between August and November. All visits will be announced and schools will be notified via an email to their Principal on Friday before the week of inspection.
School Admin Preparation for Non-Williams Schools: Please review this presentation on what to expect and how to prepare for the visit. School Admin should notify all staff about the inspection, provide a copy of the evacuation map to inspectors, and make an “All-Call” when inspectors arrive.
