Announcement Message
The Office of Equity oversees the San Francisco Unified School District’s compliance with the Williams Settlement Legislation. Copies of all Notices and Forms in this memo can be also found in the Office of Equity’s 2024-2025 Equity Notices Folder.
WILLIAMS COMPLAINT PROCEDURE
A student, guardian, teacher, or any member of the public may file a Williams Complaint for:
- Insufficient textbooks and instructional materials;
- Teacher vacancy or misassignment; and
- Facility conditions.
Please review the full Williams Complaint Procedure: Administrative Regulation 1312.4.
- Williams Complaints may be filed anonymously.
- Williams Complaints may be sent to the school site. The school has 30 school days to resolve the Williams Complaints within the school’s scope.
- However, if the Williams Complaint is outside the school’s scope of authority, the school must send the Williams Complaint to the Equity Office within 10 days of receipt.
- If the complainant requests a written response, it is due within 45 school days.
WILLIAMS COMPLAINT FORMS
Schools must make the updated Williams Complaint Forms available in all languages required at your school. Williams Complaint forms should be available in the following required locations:
- Main Office;
- Counseling/Deans offices; and
- School Library.

CLASSROOM NOTICES POSTING REQUIREMENTS
By the first day of instruction for the 2024-2025 school year, August 19, 2024, ALL school site administrators must ensure that “Williams Classroom Notices” are posted at their school site in the following required locations:
- Near main entrance to Every Classroom;
- Main Office;
- Counseling/Deans offices; and
- School Library.
Please Note: The Williams Notices are identical to those posted last year. If last year’s notices are still posted and readable, there is no need to replace last year’s notices.

CERTIFICATION OF POSTING OF WILLIAMS COMPLAINT NOTICES
All school site administrators must certify that all Williams classroom notices have been posted in all required locations. Administrators must complete this GOOGLE FORM certifying compliance by Friday, August 30, 2024.
MENSTRUAL EQUITY NOTICES
The Menstrual Equity Notice has been updated to reflect changes in the law. For the 2024-2025 school year, all schools with any students in grades 3-12 must post “Menstrual Equity for All” Notices in every language required at the school.
These notices are required to be posted in every location required to stock free menstrual products. This includes:
- Every girls’ bathroom;
- Every all-gender bathroom; and
- At least one boys’ bathroom.

Below is the list of schools selected for Williams inspections for SY 2024-2025. The California Department of Education issues a list of schools for inspection pursuant to California law; it is not a District decision. CDE is expected to issue a new list later this school year for Fall 2025.

You have received, or will shortly receive, another email from the Office of Equity providing information and resources to help you prepare for the inspections.
