Announcement Details
Summary
Elementary students will no longer see directories of SFUSD staff and students at other sites.
Announcement Message
Between July 1 and July 12, the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) will implement changes to its Google Contact Directory and how contacts appear to elementary students. As of July 1, students will only be able to view other SFUSD students and employees at their individual school.
This change aims to mitigate security risks, particularly concerning unauthorized access to student emails and the ability for cyber attackers to email everyone within the district. Students will still be able to email any users within the district if they know their email address. This proactive measure aligns with SFUSD's commitment to safeguarding student data and ensuring a secure digital learning environment.
