Announcement Message
Dear Colleagues:
I am writing to share several updates regarding raises and stipends for UESF and SEIU members. As we previously wrote to you, the SF Board of Education approved the agreements between SFUSD and UESF, and SFUSD and SEIU Local 1021, respectively, which provide our educators and service workers with historic raises. The Human Resources, Labor, Payroll and Department of Technology teams continue to diligently work to implement the agreements and ensure that all of the increases are distributed accurately. We are pleased to let you know that the team is still on track to have these raises distributed to you by the end of March. In fact, the one-time $1,500 stipend to SEIU members was distributed on Feb. 23.
Here is the timeline for distribution of the raises and stipends:
SEIU
March 20 - The 6% pay increase that was effective on July 1, 2022 and the 10% pay increase that was effective on July 1, 2023 will be reflected in SEIU members’ paychecks. And, the retroactive pay owed from July 1, 2023 to date will be included. The retroactive pay of 6% that is owed from between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023 will be paid at an upcoming date.
March 20 - Employees in the 2616 classification that qualify will receive their Step 6 (effective July 1, 2022) and Step 7 (effective July 1, 2023) in their March 20, 2024 paycheck.
March 20 - New classifications (1224, 1824, 2588, 2654, 2963, 7219, 7268, and 9977) to SEIU will receive the 6% and 10% in the March 20, 2024 paycheck. The retroactive pay of 6% that is owed from between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023 will be paid at an upcoming date. These classification profiles will reflect movement into SEIU after the increases have been issued.
UESF
March 6 - The one-time $750 prorated stipend to classified UESF members who work at High Potential Schools is set to be distributed on March 6 and will be included in their regular paycheck as a separate line item.
March 20 - The $30 per hour minimum hourly rate, or an 8% increase, (whichever is greater) at step 1 and a 4% increase at each step for steps 1 through 5 and a 3% increase at career increment A and B will be reflected in classified UESF members’ paychecks, and the retroactive pay owed from July 1, 2023 will be included.
March 20 - The $9,000 annual salary increase will be reflected in biweekly certificated UESF members’ paychecks, and the retroactive pay owed from July 1, 2023 will be included.
March 29 - The $9,000 annual salary increase will be reflected in monthly certificated UESF members’ paychecks, and the retroactive pay owed from July 1, 2023 will be included.
Following these raises, the team will next implement other items from the agreements.
While we had hoped that when we reached these agreements the raises would be processed more quickly, we appreciate your patience as the team works to ensure accuracy in implementing these raises. We will continue to keep you informed of updates regarding the agreements. Thank you for your tireless service to SFUSD students and families.
In Partnership,
Dr. Wayne
