In our continuous effort to enhance the learning environment and streamline technology use in the classroom, we are making important updates to the Chromebooks used by our PK-2 students.

Starting this Wednesday, February 21, 2024, we will be removing two of the Chrome tabs that automatically load upon startup for PK-2 students. This decision was made after careful consideration and feedback from many of you. It has been observed that these two tabs have not been utilized in our current curriculum and have inadvertently become a source of distraction for our students. Furthermore, their presence has contributed to longer startup times for the Chromebooks, affecting the efficiency of our classroom activities. The Clever tab will continue to load automatically.

Grades PreK-K devices will also have ScratchJr, the Google Play Store, and, for those who have it installed, Hoopla removed. We have learned that having these items installed can cause a device to take up to seven minutes to start up, and, as a result, several kindergarten teachers had discontinued student Chromebook use.
