What is it?: The Multilingual Learner (ML) Snapshot is a two-page, individualized summary for each English learner student that shows their current progress on the 3 SFUSD Reclassification Criteria. The snapshot also has an accompanying lesson and worksheet to support students to reflect on their scores and to set goals for how to work towards the reclassification requirements.
How is it used?: ELD teachers are encouraged to print and distribute the ML Snapshot to students in their D-ELD classes as part of an accompanying lesson. It is designed for long term English learner students in middle and high school who have been in SFUSD schools for three or more years.
- Run and Print the ML Snapshots from Illuminate: Guide To Generate ML Snapshot Student Reports
- Walk your students through understanding the ML Snapshot and completing the goal setting worksheet using the accompanying lesson slides (ML Snapshot Lesson Slides)
Why use it?: The goals of the ML Snapshot are to support students to understand why they are in ELD, how to reclassify and their current progress on the 3 SFUSD reclassification criteria. Participating in this exercise will help English learner students set goals and prepare for upcoming ELPAC, RI, and SBAC assessments this spring.
