Buong Loob: Filipinx Student Wellness Internship
Are you interested in learning about mental wellness through the Filipino and Filipina/o/x American student experience? Do you want to expand your leadership, communication, and artistic skills? Build your capacity to support fellow students with their wellness journey through the Buong Loob: Filipinx Student Wellness Internship, a paid 18-week youth mental health education program of the Filipino Mental Health Initiative of San Francisco and SFUSD's Office of College and Career Readiness. Attend weekly mental health workshops, become a peer mentor, explore careers in the behavioral health field, and more! The deadline to apply is December 1, 2023 . Learn more here.
INTERNSHIP CYCLE
January 16th, 2024 to May 16th, 2024 (18 weeks)
ELIGIBILITY
- 10th/11th/12th-grade student
- Identifies as Filipino or Filipina/o/x American
- Enrolled at an SFUSD High School
- Must attend online mandatory intern orientation on December 19th from 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM
- Completed one semester of Ethnic Studies course or equivalent*

INCENTIVES
- 11th & 12th graders earn CSU/UC transferable college credits upon completion of internship
- Certification in "teen Mental Health First Aid" (led by an instructor; in-person)
- Receive 0.5 high school elective units for Work-Based Learning Course (self-paced; asynchronous)
MEETING LOCATION & TIME
Philip & Sala Burton High School (400 Mansell Street, San Francisco, CA 94134). Internship meetings are in-person, every Tuesday from 5:00 PM-6:30 PM. There are no options to participate virtually. Interns are required to attend community events scheduled outside of the Thursday sessions off campus. Program leaders will share calendar dates in a timely manner.
STIPEND INFORMATION
The program cycle is 18 weeks from January 2024-May 2024 with an hourly pay is $18.93. Interns are employed through SFUSD and paid quarterly. Interns must complete onboarding requirements with SFUSD and attend a mandatory orientation.
