JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
High School Credit Recovery-Evening/Saturday Teachers and Counselors Needed
High School Credit Recovery-Evening/Saturday classes are available for students who need additional credits to earn a high school diploma. Teacher Salary, in accordance with the UESF contract, is $53.63/per hour – approximately 80 extended hours will be paid out over the course of each semester.
- Evening Classes:
- M/W in-person classes are held at Mission High School from 5:15pm - 6:45pm
- T/R in-person classes are held at Burton High School from 5:15pm - 6:45pm
- Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday Distance Learning classes for 24 class meetings from 5:15pm - 6:45pm
- Distance Learning classes are offered via Google Meet and Google Classroom
- Saturday Classes:
- 12 class meetings from 9:00am - 12:00pm via Distance Learning over Google Meet and Google Classroom
- Note: All teachers will be required to provide students with asynchronous work in order to meet the minimum instructional requirements for students to earn credits.
- MANDATORY Credit Recovery Meetings and Professional Development (Via Google Meet):
- Wednesday, January 24th from 5:00pm - 6:30pm
- Wednesday, March 13th OR Thursday, March 14th, 5:30pm - 6:30pm (attend 1 based on schedule)
- Wednesday, April 17th OR Thursday, April 18th, 5:30pm - 6:30pm (attend 1 based on schedule)
- Class Meeting Schedule:
- First Class: M/W - Wed, Jan 31st, T/R - Thurs, Feb 1st, Sat - Sat, Feb 3rd
- No Classes: Mon, Feb 19th, Mon, April 1st, Sat, April 6th, Mon, April 8th - Fri, April 12th, and Sat, April 13th
- Asynchronous Class: Sat, Feb 17th
- Last Class/Grades Due: T/R - Thurs, May 2nd, M/W - Mon,, May 6th, Sat - Sat, May 11th
Application Procedures:
- Applications will be posted on November 2, 2023. Review of applications will begin November 13, 2023 and will continue until all positions are filled. Selection Process:
Application screening for minimum requirements. Program needs will be considered. Extended hour positions are subject to availability of funding and student enrollment each semester. Teachers are hired for each semester as determined by the course needs of students.
NOTE: Teachers are not guaranteed a full semester in the case of under enrollment.
Requirements:
- Must be currently employed by SFUSD
- Appropriate credentials
- Satisfactory or higher evaluations for past three years
Desired Qualifications:
- Subject matter experience
- Successful experience at providing differentiated and engaging instructional strategies to meet the needs of students of diverse backgrounds
- Experience at the secondary level with currently-adopted textbooks and instructional materials
- Ability to meet reporting deadlines on time for attendance, grades, and payroll reporting
- Ability to motivate students and maintain quality classroom management
