Announcement Details
Announcement Message
The previously communicated September 30 date for hotspot deactivation will be temporarily extended. We will share new details and dates once they have been formalized and approved.
In the meantime, please maintain the status quo. Schools should not collect hotspots currently assigned to students. Unassigned hotspots at schools have been disconnected. All schools should refrain from distributing additional hotspots to students unless they have a specific, targeted need including homeless students, foster youth, or a county school.
Please submit a help desk ticket via help.sfusd.edu to request or reactivate a hotspot for students in these population groups. Families in need of home Internet connectivity can visit getacp.org to apply for services.
Prior to 2020, SFUSD did not provide hotspots to students. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, hotspots were provided as a temporary solution to keep SFUSD students connected to learning during school closures. Hotspot funding for the last two years was reimbursed through the Emergency Connectivity Fund (ECF). SFUSD’s ability to leverage this funding is ending on September 30, 2023, however, we will continue to work on long-term, alternative solutions.
Thank you for your understanding.
