How to order lunches for your upcoming field trip:

1. At least 2 weeks (10 business days) before the field trip, log on to the Field Trip Portal to request Bagged Lunches and/or Bus Transportation.
2. Use this Communication Process guide for your reference. This process is designed to inform all necessary parties (Risk Management, your Admin team, Transportation, and Student Nutrition Services) for you to take your students on a field trip.

Frequently asked questions about field trip meals:

• Why do Dining Staff need to know about my field trip plans? Student Nutrition Dining Staff and Ordering Team order and prepare the quantity of food based on daily participation and menu popularity trends. If they are unaware of field trips or school events that might change the number of students eating from the cafeteria that day, they will order normal amounts, and many meals will then go to waste. This is costly and negatively impacts the environment.
• What food is included? Student Nutrition Services partners with Revolution Foods to provide a full student lunch for field trips, including fruit & vegetables. All meals are free for all SFUSD students as of the 23-24 school year, regardless of eligibility.
• What if I need to cancel or increase my bag lunch order? Refer to your confirmation email from when your trip was Approved. It is possible to increase or decrease the number of meals up until 4 days before your trip. Talk to your Dining Staff ASAP. If you have to cancel your trip, if it is less than 72 hours before your scheduled trip, let your dining staff know ASAP so they don’t set aside the bagged lunches for you. They may still have a chance to include in regular lunch service, to avoid food waste.
